A Babylonian tomb filled with the skeletons of snakes. Seven seals scattered around the world. A young woman, Lilith, who speaks in tongues before covering herself with living serpents. The Brotherhood of the Serpent sees it all, and knows the time of their greatest prophecy — set to occur under a pattern of stars that only align once every four thousand years — is at hand.

Soon the leader of the Brotherhood — Samael, known as Venom, the Angel of Death — will fulfill his destiny: to give Lilith the venom that will summon the Great Serpent to consume the world.

The only thing standing in their way are Morgan Sierra and Jake Timber, the top agents of ARKANE.

A secret British agency tasked with protecting the world from supernatural powers, ARKANE has long operated in the shadows to keep the world safe.

But not even Morgan and Jake can guess at the danger they’re about to face. A danger that will take them from the ruins of Iraq to the mist-wreathed Appalachian Mountains, from ancient archeological sites in Israel to the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs — Morgan and Jake have to move fast if they want to stop Samael and Lilith from fulfilling their destinies.

Darkness holds sway. The stars align. And Morgan and Jake will have to sacrifice all they hold dear to have a hope of stopping the End of Days.

"This book, like her others, is a tour de force that will eat your whole day and keep you up late to find out what comes next.
Love the characters, the scenery, the story.
Just remember that this book will make you ignore your husband, your children, and your job. Try to wait for a Saturday morning to start reading, and have someone nearby to bring you food and drink."

"I never thought I would like a book about snakes. But Joanna has proved me wrong. End of Days just grabs you and pulls you in right to the very end!
The characters are very real; Morgan, Jake and the others seem just like you and me. I am astounded at all of the research that had to be done for this book; in every way the author is bringing you new insight into history and current times ... I would recommend all of Joanna's books for some entertaining reading!"

In the ARKANE thriller series ...

ARKANE agents Morgan Sierra and Jake Timber race against time to solve religious and supernatural mysteries around the world.

They're joined by other members of the ARKANE team as they search for clues and battle foes both human and supernatural along the way.

Described by fans as "Dan Brown meets Lara Croft," and perfect for fans of James Rollins or Steve Berry.

A serpent of death.

The Bible also talks of the end of days and the Satan being released. With End of Days and in the hands of a capable author J.F.Penn it becomes the stuff of nightmare as the snake ( as in the Garden of Eden) becomes the prime premise for the latterday ending of everything on Earth. Interesting too are the names of the two evil doers viz Samael (the archangel of death, more commonly known as Lucifer) and Lilith (according to the book of Enoch the first wife of Adam and later consort of Lucifer). These two are the rather human baddies here though a far cry from the biblical versions. Hence the subject matter of the End of Days may be contentious for some readers even though purely fictional. And quite the thriller it turns out to be anyhow! I am and has always been wary of snakes anyhow and the main theme of a snake being the ultimate evil to haunt humankind in the End of Days certainly affirmed my wariness of snakes in general as the plot in this thriller unfolds and snake venom becomes an important factor. Morgan and Jake certainly are charging all over the world in a race against time to prevent the rising of a serpent of death. Enjoy

I love Morgan's developing character

Another great ARKANE book, End of Days by J. F. Penn features agent Morgan Sierra. This fast-paced thriller is about finding seven seals that will open the sarcophagus of a banished serpent whose resurrection would bring on the end of days. Racing against time, a special lunar eclipse, Morgan and Jake Timber must out-maneuver the Brotherhood of the Serpent in order to save the world from an apocalypse. What I especially liked about the book was that Morgan showed depth, susceptibility, and conflict. Questioning whether to continue working for ARKANE or to “settle down,” Morgan become multidimensional and more plausible as a character. If you have enjoyed the ARKANE series to date, you will love this book.

One hell of a ride

This book grabs your attention straight away, from start to finish,l always had trouble putting the book down. Jake and Morgan agents of ARKANE seek the seven seals of revelation before the worshippers of the great snake , hoping to coincide with the stars and lunar eclipse. Action goes on and on. The only disappointment is how quickly they the seven seals, that have been hidden for 1000 years, but hey it's a story and it would take a series if it took a long time to find them. Many thanks J F Penn another great book and soon book 10.

mostly ok but i thought it the weakest of the arkane books

Mostly ok, but i thought it the weakest of the Arkane books. kinda predictable seemed like the author was in a hurry to get the story over with. On a different note, it would be good to see another in the LONDON psychic series

Exciting, suspense-filled adventure from J.F. Penn

I received a free advance copy of this book and also purchased it. Once again J.F. Penn has written an exciting and suspense-filled adventure that takes the reader around the world. My favorite aspect of her writing is how she blends true historic facts with religious beliefs/themes and supernatural adventure. In Book 9 of her Arkane series, Penn has Morgan and Jake on the search for seven seals that, in the wrong hands, will usher in the "End of Days". They must retrieve these seals before the Brotherhood of the Serpent finds them and all hell breaks loose. I loved it and read it in one day. You won't be disappointed.

A book you do not want to miss! Fantastic!

I received a free copy from J. F. Penn, and this is my honest opinion of this book. I also bought a copy of the book to support this great author. This book is fast-paced, action-packed suspense thriller. J. F. Penn's extensive research is reflected in her books with the historic sites, events, and snake worshipers. The development of her scenes and characters keep you wanting for more. It is very difficult to put this book down. I look forward to more of Morgan, Jake, and Martin. Please these books coming! I think you will enjoy it as much as I did!

Evocative and thrilling! JF Penn strikes again (pun intended)

I, too, received a preview copy and was entranced from the start. Not only do I learn new words from Ms. Penn, I thoroughly enjoy all her works. The ARKANE series brings to life olden times and the stories surrounding the findings by the group are at times eerie and at other times outright scary. In End of Days we are immediately faced with snake worshipers practicing their religion. From there we are made aware of mithradatism and meet some of its practitioners. Jake and Sierra have to find out what their plan is and to discover a way to stop them. Along the way, we lose some one dear to Sierra, but she is left a strange potion, which may help her stop the terror at hand but she doesn't know for sure or how to use it if it does. You will meet him early in the book: Krait. Look the word up and you will find something interesting. I recognized the word, but looked it up to be sure. His personality absolutely matches! Ms. Penn is very capable at evoking the reader's interest and the supernatural. .

A Great Read

I've enjoyed all the ARKANE novels, but I think this one has been my favourite so far. I just didn't want to put it down. Morgan and Jake are off to save the world again against really interesting and surprising villains. The ARKANE novels are always filled with well written and interesting characters and this one is no different. I'm already looking forward to the next adventure.

End of Days. J.F. Penn

Revelations 20:7 .....A great serpent will appear, heralding the beginning of the end times. This apocalyptic event will occur during a rare lunar eclipse in Jerusalem. The serpent will come to life! Arkane agents Morgan and Jake are sent to do battle. This is an extraordinary and spectacular novel. Fast paced and loaded with intrigue, suspense and action!! The author, Joanna Penn does extensive research of locations depicted in this novel and of historical events. You can visualize yourself as actually being there.! I highly recommend this book! Enjoyed tremendously!!

The serpent that could lead to the end of the World

JF Penn has produced another great supernatural thriller featuring the 'Arkane' team of Morgan Sierra and Jake Timber, starting with the discovery of an artefact warning of that Satan will be released when the thousand years are ended, which leads to the discovery of a sarcophagus deep in the ocean, and the search for 7 seals which are needed to unlock it and release a great serpent. The search for the seals leads both Morgan & Jake and a mysterious brotherhood around the world and culminates in a battle between the 2 sides in Jerusalem. As always the author keeps the breathless pace and excitement at fever pitch but still manages to very skillfully weave in evocative descriptions of the locations. The characters are all satisfyingly complex, and in particular the internal conflict that Morgan experiences is depicted superbly This is the 9th book in the 'Arkane' series, and maintains and even improves the quality of the series as a whole, I hope that there are lots more! I did receive a free copy of this book but have no other affiliation with the author, and I have voluntarily reviewed it.

Absolutely Addictive

I received a free advance copy from J.F. Penn, for my honest review and I also pre-ordered it from amazon.com. Something I like to do to support my favorite authors. Absolutely addictive, J.F. Penn's writing style just sucks you in, your right their in the action, on the edge of the seat cheering that Morgan, Jake, Martin and the rest of the Arkane crew to defeat evil and it's a read that you don't want to see end. This is so well researched, like all the historic sites included in her reads, even if she adds extra elements to it, what an amazing imagination and it's always done right. Penn has mastered the ability to stay the straight and narrow keeping everything realistic, believable even with a supernatural element add to it, and the cool thing is she puts the reader right their into the pages, your right their for all the heart pounding action. The snake handling scene in the Pentecostal Church, with Lilith in the Appalachia Mountains in KY is perfectly written and it ends creepily with her holding three Rattlers. Lilith's character is amazing. Penn actually made me like a evil character for a change, but what I really like is that at least I had a premise that she, created a unknown element and once the bad guys get the seven seals. In the end Lilith embraced her destiny, welcome the great serpent, without fear and no surprise considering that most bad people are fueled by fear regardless how evil they are. Definitely if you haven't tried J. F. Penn's books before, do yourself a favor and give her a try. This is the cool thing with ebooks, embrace the technology, it'll open new worlds/genres in your reading and you'll discover authors like J.F. Penn who write gems like End of Days. The best thing with Penn's writing, she ends it with a sneaky peek at the next Arkane adventure and gets you excited for what's next.
