How far would you go to see again?

Conflict photographer, Sara Miles, loves being embedded with the military out in the desert. Her pictures pay tribute to those who fight, suffer, and die for freedom and the images she captures can turn public perception in the never-ending war.

Her photography matters.

But when Sara is caught in an explosion out on patrol, her eyes are damaged by a face full of shrapnel. She may never be able to see through a lens again.

The military offers her a cutting-edge operation to restore her sight, but it comes with a price …

A short story with a supernatural edge from award-nominated, USA Today bestselling thriller author, J.F. Penn.

"A gut-wrenching tale of war, death, injury and surgery. The twist at the end is brilliant – and made the story for me."

"A short story about a photographer embedded with the military to capture images relating to the war ...A devastating injury sets her on a journey that gives her renewed motivation to continue with her passion. But every action has consequence. What Penn introduces in this short story opens intriguing what if questions to be explored. Excellent!"

"As I listened, even with the title, I did not see the end coming—tears I didn't expect. I don't want to say more. For fear of a spoiler."

"This is a cracking short story with an ending I just didn’t see coming. I wonder if anything is going to come from this story in the future. Where does such a fantastic author gets their storylines from. What next, cannot wait to find out. Highly recommended."

A very quirky, or maybe freaky, entertaining short story.

Brilliant twist

A gut-wrenching tale of war, death, injury and surgery. The twist at the end is brilliant – and made the story for me.

*I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Make this into a novel please!

This story grips with every carefully selected word, and the twist at the end leaves you wanting more. The descriptions are really intense, heightening the final plot shock even further.

It would be great to see a "how does the story develop?" as a full blown novel now that our appetite has been whetted.

exciting

In a Demon's eye. Riveting and I hope there's more to come. Ms Penn let's yu feel the heat of the desert and the subject's frustration in wanting to be back embedded with the military. I look forward to a sequel.
